You can jump to any of the ten positions from here, and you can move personnel around to cover for others who have been injured.
A word of warning: If you move a crew member away from a position, such as the top turret, you won't be able to access that station until it is manned again.
The manual details your first mission and helps you through it in a tutorial. The manual, overall, is excellent, with great writing and lots of informative stuff. The missions, of course, are where you'll spend the bulk of your time in the game. B Flying Fortress challenges you to fly through a full twenty-five sortie campaign, which is what the actual bomber flyers from World War II had to go through.
The missions start off simply but get harder and harder as the campaign goes on. These missions are some of the most tense and tough missions I've ever flown, with tons of flak, as well as several enemy aircraft, tying to prevent you from succeeding. It's the level of detail and fun Microprose put into these missions that make them a blast.
The graphics and sound effects for this game aren't too bad, given the time frame. Polygons and sprites rule the day, as this game was made when 3D acceleration was a pipe dream, at best. The game does have enough graphical and aural charm to lure one in, though, and the great game play will keep players there throughout their campaign, assuming they survive.
Overall, for being what most would consider a dry subject compared to its fighter cousins, this reviewer would have to say that B Flying Fortress does exactly what it sets out to do. It gives us a detailed bomber simulation with enough spice, tension, and fun to keep us playing for a long time to come.
If you have any interest at all in this subject, or maybe you liked the movie Memphis Belle, then you'd be doing yourself a favor by finding a copy of this game. After customizing one's bomber with nose art and a name, one of several randomly assigned bombing missions into Germany must be flown.
I, personally experienced an hour because this is how much I endured of irritating and frustrating gameplay. I just couldn't find anything that was user-friendly.
Most of the games of this genre concentrate on the most advanced fighter jets, but this game allows you to stay in a B flying fortress, with plenty of room, with which you have a lot to perform in the air. But it is a pity that the game couldn't offer me a great time, just because the difficulty was way too hard. Recommended: OS: Windows 7 Processor: 1. See all. View all.

Graphics are great but there are so many things to learn to do. Most of the time I let the computer fly the whole mission and just watch. Takes a long time to take off have to start each engine seperately , then a long taxi ride.
It IS cool to watch the bombs hit the target. If you like a lot of technical detail, you'll like this sim. This is in addition to my previous review. After reading the manuel and doing some pratice, I have a good grip on this sim. You can easily take any position on the bomber, or any bomber, or any plane involved in your mission. This includes the little friends or the enemy fighters. I enjoy being the bombadeir. It's best to let the pilot fly the ship while you do all the other tasks.
Machine guns are a little difficult as the bandits fly by really fast. Men get wounded and you have to assign first aid to them by other crew members. The crew fight fires plus more. You can watch all this happen in real time. If it gets boring, you can jump to the next action.
If you love the B17 as I do, you will love this sim just to get to see them flying. It is very realistic. Planes get shot down, some catch on fire, some get all shot up, the landing gear won't come down, engines quit running, men get wounded, some die. I recommend this sim very highly to any WW2 airwar buff.
