I have movie studio platinum I did what you did on and in the render menu I chose "render with cuda if possible" but I can't still render with CUDA cores which is faster than cpu rendering My system is K with corsair h60 oc 4GHZ and my gpu is gtx You will have to use CPU only for rendering with this format.
Older Nvidia cards do work with the MC encoder. If your computer has this turned on, you may also be able to use Intel Quicksync to render video. Your Graphics Card is still being used by the program for other functions, like speeding up the Preview Window and accelerating Video Fx. No prior knowledge is assumed; everything is patiently and clearly explained and I now understand how easy it is to undermine the quality of a finished product, however good the original footage, by choosing the wrong initial settings for a project.
As well as explanations of what each option does, there are also recommendations of which ones to use, which is a vast improvement on the educated guess method of selection that I used to employ! It has also brought me up to date on handling HD footage and it even has suggested work-arounds for importing seemingly incompatible media. Investing in this book is likely to save many hours of trial and error so, for me, it was well worth every penny. I found the digital manual provided with the software and the tutorials and online help rather irksome.

This book is thoughtfully put together, readable, easy to follow and contains many useful hints and tips. It is certainly the case that my editing sessions have gone far more smoothly with fewer frustrations since I've had this publication at my elbow. There is no use for this in a professionally written segment. I'm still trying to make it work for me but every little thing is a struggle even when I've looked up on YouTube what to do to make it work the way I want. I would caution the buy of this as someone who has worked in a high market. I'm still trying to find a nice alternative to use at home for creative editing but at this point I can't recommend this. I haven't tried the FX yet though and am eager to see how good they are.

There are plenty of filmed versions of instructions showing the screen as clips are edited on youtube. I traced the problems I was having with version 10 being unable to work with HD thanks to a chap in Sydney Australia that way, then bought Version Thirteen has many new features but a novice can start straightforward editing easily and move on to more advanced techniques at their own pace.
The new thing is that it is now designed for touch screens. One thing about the Sony - I had been using another well known system for a long time, which seemed to crash if you frowned at it. I have had hardly any trouble like this with the Sony. It can hit a problem, but tells you what it is usually caused by me, if I am honest but not crashing constantly for no apparent reason, leaving you confused and frustrated.

But on my modest PC, performance on HD movies made editing a sluggish and frustrating experience. So I tried out 6 different free or demos of products that were supposed to work well on slower PCs, and tested them for an hour each trying to edit a simple video. On 5 of them, after an hour, I was not much further into the edit than when I started, and in one, ended up with nothing at all, just curses as a baffling workflow, that involved joining and unjoining edits, defeated me.
With Movie Studio, I had nearly finished the whole edit in the hour and the whole experience was a pleasure. My main problem with Premier Pro, my pc performance, was not an issue - everything was very responsive without having to pre-render previews. The whole bundle is amazing value - including music tools, DVD authoring, plugins and effects. In addition to the ones advertised, there are cards inside at least in my copy with links to further free plugins from Hitfilm.
The two big and one small downside s for me for which I have subtracted one star are that the buttons on screen are just far too big, render times for final movie are unbelievably slow and titling workflow is a bit unusual.
The buttons on the screen in this version of Movie Studio are designed for Touchscreen users, so they are big, clunky and use a lot of valuable screen space. Why the application doesn't have a 'regular' and 'touchscreen' option I will never know it does have a simple and advanced interface.
As a result, commonly used buttons don't fit along the bottom of the screen too, and appear in a 'config' pop-up, which is frustrating. Renders to final movie are tortuously slow, and I have accepted that if I am going use this application regularly, my renders will need to be left running overnight and sometimes much of the next day.
